Soundtracks’ Big Night

Published by dwhitney at 5:33 am under Indie Movies

Up until about two minutes ago, I didn’t think there was anybody other than Quincy Jones, Randy Newman, or John Williams that did movie soundtracks. Welcome to the World Soundtrack Awards and their 2008 list of nominees. This is the 8th incarnation of the awards and will be held on October 18th.
You may not actually care who wins any of these awards, but did any of the nominated films/songs stand out to you. Is a great soundtrack one that blends seamlessly with the visuals or does it stand out on its own? Are there any glaring omissions in the three categories?
