Bonsai: The Karate Kid Documentary
All famous directors started with a super 8 or VHS camcorder in their backyard filming their younger siblings, or maybe even their dog, in costume playing the part of some sort of action hero. For documentarians, the first step to their career goal may take place on youtube. Now I have no idea who Sean Cunningham is, but I do know he created one heck of a mini documentary on the impact of “The Karate Kid”.
In these five short youtube videos, Cunningham takes you through the struggle, comedy, heartache, empowerment, and his own personal triumph caused by Ralph Macchio’s most famous film.
