The Good, The Bad, and The Weird
A couple of weeks ago, there was a rumor that Clint Eastwood had decided to return for another “Dirty Harry” flick. Unfortunatley for those fans of the .44, Clint denied these rumors, he is after all 78 years old. Well, South Korea took a cue from this news and figured if they wanted another Eastwood spaghetti western, they were going to have to do it themselves, hence “The Good, The Bad, and The Weird”.
The film made its rounds through Korean theaters, is currently playing at Cannes, and will most likely find US distributor in the near future. In addition to the beautiful visuals and obvious character distinctions present in the trailer we find out from the NYT that:
(”The Good” is )Set in 1930s Japanese occupied Manchuria, tells the story of three Joseon mounted bandits who get their hands on a treasure map, only to be pursued by the army of national independence, who believe that the outlaws have a map for a new railway to be built by the Japanese army.”
