Bigger Stronger Faster

No I’m not talking about Daft Punk…. sorry no Kayne West here either…the subject of this here film is entirely more American than a British invasion and a crybaby rapper, this is about good old fashion anabolic steroids.

Everybody knows that steroids make you a better athlete, which makes the team better, which makes the fans happy, which translates into bigger revenues for the team, higher salaries for the athletes, and therefore more incentive to take steroids. Everybody wins. So what’s the problem? I remember being perscribed some roids after being attacked by a swarm of bees in the sixth grade.

“Bigger Stronger Faster” follows Christopher Bell and his two user brothers as they retrospect growing up idolizing the likes of famous steroiders Hulk Hogan, Sly Stallone, Arnold, Barrooid, etc. etc. etc. The film include interviews with steroid abusers, athletes, congressmen, and doctors and ask questions like why is it so prevalent and what are we doing about it. And hopefully questions like, what has the world come to when we hold congressional hearings on the lives of baseball players????? Should we impeach all of baseball?

I love documentaries that ask the good questions, the hard questions, and the necessary questions. The fact is steroid abuse is a huge part of our lives. Every athlete is in question of using, and most feel that they have to do it to survive, and that is just sad. Better yet, steroid abuse is a completely unpartisan issue. Without seeing this movie, and knowing nothing of its political slant if any, I can say that everybody, regardless of affiliation can go in to this movie with an open mind as opposed to going to say a Michel Moore joint.

Take a look at the trailer and ask yourself, “If you had to take a drug with the know side effects of anabolic steroids to keep your job and support your family, would you do it?”
“Bigger Stronger Faster” Will open for a limited release at the end of May.
