The Escapist
When I first heard about The Escapist, I thought it was based on Michael Chabon’s comic book character in the pulitzer prize winning novel “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay”. Turns out we will have to wait another year until the Coen Brothers finish filming that one.
This escapist is veteran Brian Cox playing a role written specifically for him by writer/director Rupert Wyatt. Cox is facing a life sentence in a London prison when he receives word that his treasured daughter is ill following a drug overdose. He must deal with puts together a rag tag group of convicts to deal with the prisoner controlled hierarchy and break out. The Escapist premiered at this Sundance this year, but like I have heard many people say, it looks much more polished than your typical indie.
